17th Century frame with remarkable hand carving work of stylized foliage and “Masques” in decor, centered in the middle of each of the four sides.
With remnants of polychrome paint on masques (red lips, eyelashes, rosy skin on cheeks, nose and forefront, dark blue eyes) and water gilt all over. Beautifully distressed later silver mirror.
