Recamier is a daybed typically having a high curved headboard and a low or absent footbase. The name comes from a famous painting -in the Louvre -of madame Recamier resting on a daybed and painted by Jacques-Yves David circa 1800 (Directoire Period). The very elegant couch we present here is in a light gray lacquered wood carved with rosettes and olives leaf work. The curved inverted back rest top has one side terminated by a baluster armrest. This Recamier rest on four tulip shaped feet. Newly reuphostered with a striped fabric. Great tassels on the cylindrical pillow.
