19th Century Provencal “Petrin” Dough Box in Walnut

This wonderfully carved Louis XVI style “dough box” was originally used to knead dough. It shows in its center a marvellous carving of a basket with its handle, a showel and a flag. On the right front side a painter’s palette with brushes when left side depicts a jug and a a rake.
The cover lift up for ease of use. The bottom section features a carved scalloped apron with flowers and leaves.
All is resting on 4 very Louis XV style scrolled feet .
Entirely wood pegged.
