Stucco Relief for Decoration was used by many ancient cultures (Egyptian, Etruscan..) as well as during Renaissance. Many Examples can be found in Churches and Palaces .It also was used for Figurative representation and was frequent in upper-class apartment of the 19th and early 20th C.
This one is a “Studio Work” and represents 5 Putti filling a Censer in front of an Altar when 3 other Putti are watching behind a marble Balustrade. The stucco has a warm Ochre color.
