Charcutier is a Pork Butcher making ” saucisses, saucissons, pates, rillettes etc.; this item has been extremely popular in France since the Middle Age. This wonderful little Block was made in the city of Lille France, during the Art Deco period, visible in the design of the support legs and crossbars. Top is made of rectangular blocks of hornbeam wood (used because it does not split) being laid vertically to the surface (and 6″ long) in order to increase its usage life. Four corners braces in polished steel fasten the blocks of wood. Has a central drawer with an exotic wood marquetry.
