Marvellous Christ Bust in a brown patina bronze resting on a marble base ,after a model by Jean Baptiste Clesinger (French 1814-1883).Its name is marked on the side of the right shoulder.
The bronze was made by Ferdinand Barbedienne (French 1810-1892), owner of the most famous Foundry ever in France ( he made the bronzes for Rodin,Barye etc…)
This bust has belonged to a Diocesan Mission from 1899 to 1902, hence the brass plaque in front.
