Interesting Louis XVI style mahogany cylinder desk with a white marble top having a brass gallery rail and under which a cabinet with two mirrored glass doors, four quarter round mirrored shelves and two short drawers. All glasses are beveled.
This roll top has a beautiful brass marquetry featuring diamond shapes containing sort of stars. When raised, the cylinder front reveals a storage space with five drawers, open space and a black leather covered writing surface that has to be pulled forward to accommodate a chair. All carvings are filled with brass and all the drawers front are trimmed in brass too.
The desk stands on four straight tapered and fluted legs ending each with a sabot.
The neoclassical profile of this desk with its mirrors on top and its brass inlays center and bottom displays an elegance that would fit in many modern or classical interiors.
