A superb mid-19th century Clock with beautifully chased and Ormolu gilded bronzes. Rest on a white Carrara marble base, supported by five nice adjustable toupie feet and decorated by gilt pearls on top, two Doves (symbol of love) and fasces bundles in front. The clock itself is mounted on a fluted column and has a glazed dial with Roman Numerals in blue, Arabic numerals in black and two hands in hand cut brass. As it should be the dial is surrounded by the classical Louis XVI ribbon and knot, each side is adorned with gilt flowers garlands on scrolled Bronze.
The whole case is surmounted by “l Amour” (Cupid) floating on clouds and holding a bow in her/his right hand and a torch (symbol of Passion) in left hand.
This clock has its original gilding and movement made (stamped on brass inside) by Vincenti & Cie ( got a silver medal at the Universal exhibit in Paris in 1854). Eight days time and strike movement with the pendulum on silk .
