This gorgeous piece of decor is a finely chiseled and gilt bronze base topped by a gilt brass sphere. The base is almost square (12″ by 11″) and rests on four feet decorated with scrolled acanthus leaves in gilt bronze. The sphere is attached to the base by a threaded rod and bolt, inside.
We are in possession of eight such elements but they are sold separately. Two could make a superb pair of Louis XVI andirons as they have the right dimensions. Four could be used as a base for a coffee table with a glass or marble top.
