19th Century French Mahogany Handkerchief Card Table
France Ca 1870
Gorgeous design and execution for this Louis XVI style from Napoleon III period card or game table. Supported by four tapering legs the top of this table unfolds to reveal a velvet covered surface used for playing cards. Opens from the center out on each corner and also turns so that each flap rests on a table's corner for solidity and stability. Showcases a beautiful parquetry inlay pattern on the outside. Top, sides, and legs. Features a drawer (with working key) and bronze mounts on leg's top and sabots. Brass cups inside the mahogany top (when open) for each player chips or coins.
