French Wrought Iron and Marble-Top Console Table
France Ca 1870
Truly gorgeous console from the end of the 19th century having outstanding black patinated scrolls of wrought iron work on the cincture, the two front legs, and front spacer. Superb “repousse" work decor of Acanthus leaves. The front legs are covered by large gilded repousse leaves surmounted each by a gilded garland of "oves" (fruits or eggs in their husk or shell) in forged iron, typical of an end of 19th-century decor in a Napoleon III style.
