18th Century Aubusson Tapestry in the Chinoiserie Taste after J. B. Pillement

Artist Jean Baptiste Pillement (French 1728-1808) was very influential in spreading the taste for Chinoiseries throughout Europe. This Aubusson tapestry after a cartoon by Pillement is made of silk and wool and shows a Chinese pagoda surrounded by beautiful vegetation and a cascade in front. Beautiful "macarons" border. Tapestry is backed with white linen.
